Some of you may have noticed that the tag line for this blog is taken from the book, Worship Matters, by Bob Kauflin (p. 55). He offers this as the job description of a worship leader, and I find it to be a very helpful articulation of what I seek to do both in the local church as well as through this blog.
Meanwhile, even more of you will recognize that the title of the blog is the same as the title of the well-known worship song by Tim Hughes (a song that I happen to like).
More importantly, the title is also an expression of the answer to the question, “Why am I here?” The Westminster Shorter Catechism declares that, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.” This reminds me of a definition that Mr. Kauflin gives for worship:
Biblical worship is God’s covenant people recognizing, reveling in, and responding rightly to the glory of God in Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
which he proceeds to unpack here (highly recommended reading).
Thanks for reading!
Chris,
Weka maneno muzuri hapa!!!
Hi! Found you through a comment on Bob Kauflin’s blog. Glad to know another Kenyan who reads Kauflin and listens to Piper!
Ubarikiwe!
Thanks Nelima. I am just as happy as you are! There certainly don’t seem to be to many of ‘us’ but I am now encouraged to revamp this blog and do a better job of “spreading a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all people through Jesus Christ.”
Grace,
- Chris
